Even top 10% of the drunken scatter brains at UVa couldn't hit CLS median. Go UVA. Most of your class mates will be going to frat parties and buying pink shirts instead of studying.

I'm mostly a lurker (though clearly I read autoadmit enough to find the term "poast" funny) and have to make a decision in the next 4 hours. What do you actually think I should do?

I'll bet it's that douchebag oneforship. He's probably sitting there with his collar popped, just waiting for us to respond...

This is credited advice.

You should go to CLS and jump in front of the 1 train first chance you get.

The Washington Poast wrote:It's crunch time and I have to pick between UVA on scholly and Columbia. I've calculated a total cost difference of ~$70,000 over three years. Looking to do biglaw, most likely in NYC. I know Columbia has better placement in this regard, but I'm also judging from UVA's "laid-back" culture (having experienced it firsthand at ASW) and entering class profile (lots of people with 3.0's at state schools who just managed to crack 170 on the LSAT) that I can probably do sufficiently better there to make up for the school's slight disadvantage in placement. Is this a reasonable assessment? I'm indifferent between the two cultures at the schools; it's all about job opportunities (and debt, I suppose) to me.

Actually, the one other factor is "pressure," because I've come to realize that I deal pretty poorly with constant stress. (Please don't turn this into a discussion about whether I should be doing biglaw at all; I plan to put in at least a few years.) Does this allocate extra points to UVA, for being more relaxed/collegial?

Any advice is appreciated.

EDIT: Not knocking state schools or anything, just saying that I'd rather be graded on the same curve as a 3.0/170 from Georgia Tech than a 3.7/178 from Yale.
You, sir. I am calling you out for disparaging the Virginians in a manner most displeasing to me. That is all.
