Hey TLS,
Decision deadline in 7 days. Harvard because it's Harvard or CLS with half-tuition and a clinic in the type of law I want? I want to do PI and SCOTUS clerkship.

Go to Columbia, if only because I'd rather not have people at HLS actively gunning for SCOTUS clerkships.
In all seriousness though, Harvard.

Harvard v. Columbia full ride is a hard decision but skews to Harvard for most people.
This... yeah, not a hard decision.

Did you get no aid from HLS at all?

Nope. My parents income skewed it against me.

Whatever you do, I suggest not making a decision based on the likelihood of landing a SCOTUS clerkship. No matter where you go to school, a SCOTUS clerkship is an incredible long shot that is dependent on many factors, including luck.
Yes, Harvard will give you a better chance at SCOTUS, but it's basically the difference between a 1% chance and a 0.3% chance. I don't think it's worth turning down $76K for that. (Which is not to say that there aren't lots of other good reasons to go to HLS instead of CLS.)

Harvard. Columbia places not-so-well into clerkships in general, not just SCOTUS. Harvard is 2nd for clerkship placement and is incredibly strong in that department. Not to mention I know a few people CLS median who were locked out of biglaw. If you ever want to pursue biglaw (and who knows you might), you're much better off median at Harvard than median at CLS. HYS has seemed to really distinguish themselves ite from the rest of the t-14.

Thanks, but money's not really a huge factor for me. I'm more looking at what's going to put me in the best place after graduation. I'm trying to figure out how much the clinical experience at Columbia will help compared with Harvard's overall name, plus the possibility of MAYBE managing a higher class rank at Columbia than at Harvard.

I'd have to think that your debt from Harvard will be essentially a non-factor post graduation. Yea, the 1/2 scholly from CLS is nice, but for what your looking for (SCOTUS clerkship and whatnot)... HLS, I believe, is the way to go

If that's the case, this post is retarded.

tbh your odds of a SCOTUS clerkship at CLS and HLS are pretty much the same
50/50
either it happens or it doesn't

Sorry if you guys think so! I'm concerned about the other factor of the clinic, and the $$ is a nice benefit.

are you just going to blow the money on shoes and purses?
what is the type of law you want? Harvard doesn't have any strengths in this area?

If money isn't a factor, the solution is obvious.

This thread makes little to no sense.
I'm also convinced that this is indeed a real person. And that scares me.
