Tulane vs. ASU: How Much Should Debt Matter?

OK its narrowed down to these two and I am having a hard time deciding.

If the numbers from their website are right, I will graduate from Tulane with $135K in debt after 3 years (Im still upset that I didnt get more than my 15K Scholly). ASU on the other hand will only put me 92K in the hole, after scholly and in-state tuition.

If the costs were equal I would be in New Orleans in a heatbeat. I like the school, the programs and the portability of the degree. However, since they are not (and since ASU moved up so much in the rankings), I am having second thoughts.

How much of a difference should that extra $43K make in my decision?

Note: I really dont know where I want to live or what exactly Id like to do, but Id like to have as many options as possible.

Thanks Y'all

I don't know what type of flexibility you'll have from Tulane, but my impression is that the vast majority of ASU grads are looking to work in Phoenix fwiw. To get out of the greater Phoenix metro area you'll probably need to do some serious leg work. However, it probably depends a lot on the type of work you're trying to get into to.

I say ASU if you would like to practice close to home. Tulane will get you to DC or NY but it will be twice the work for you because you are from Arizona and won't have connections. Allot of Tulane people have connections to the east coast and south. So that helps them, plus if they are actually from those areas interviews are easier to set up and go to during breaks.

ASU seems solid, but not a good fit for you.

Thanks for the input everyone but nobody really answered my question. Do yall think Tulane is worth the extra money? I really have no idea how difficult it will be to pay off the extra $$

You don't really need connections for DC or NYC. You probably do need to go to a better law school than Tulane, though.

If you want to practice somewhere outside of AZ, yes Tulane is probably worth the extra $40k.
