Although earth shattering shifts are unlikely, could new rankings, for better or worse, influence your decision to attend a law school?

Simply curious with the release of new rankings approaching and many seat deposits still outstanding.

Maybe not change, but confirm. I am down to two, have a pretty good idea where I want to go, but I can't get the other one out of my head. Hopefully the USNWR will help calm the dissenting voices.

I'm sorry, but if the new rankings play any part in where you decide to go to law school, you might need to question your decision-making capabilities.

If a school I am seriously considering were to drop in the rankings and their employment stats became worse I would look at some others I'd been admitted to.

Probably not. T3-T6-T12-T14 is not likely to change. And any rank shifts outside of T14 don't really matter since other factors such as location take precedent at that point.

It would cause me to investigate why the school or schools in question fell or rose significantly in the rankings. Many are rethinking decisions, I suspect, about committing to Missouri, South Carolina or even Alabama since each experienced significant drops.

A drop in the rankings doesnt mean as much as people think. Dont look at the number, look at the points. Look at their bar passage rates. look at their employment statistics. A school can do nothing wrong/different, earn the same amount of points as the previous year and still drop 5 or more spots. Remember that a school dropping isnt always a result of something the school did. Sometimes it can happen because other schools went up. However, this doesnt mean that the school that went up is better.

Just take the rankings with a grain of salt. Dont let them influence you. A one year change is not going to cause that much of an impact.
