Top Law Schools

Hey guys, I don't post a whole lot on here but am looking for some advice:

I have to decide between Georgetown sticker vs. UNC for in state tuition.

GTown = $43k/yr
UNC = $16k/yr

Uhh, HUGE difference in cost there. Not to mention I could live for free in chapel hill or pay $1k/month for rent in DC. For someone that does NOT want to work in state and really has no idea what kind of law I'm going to practice - biglaw is definitely a possibility - should I just go with my gut and go to GTown but pay out the nose or go with UNC and hopefully do really incredibly well to maximize my chances at biglaw, should I decide to go for it after grad. Thoughts? I'm really on the fence so any advice is appreciated.

PS I went to UNC undergrad so to head out of state would be fun.

Don't go to UNC then.

If you are 100% certain that you will go nuts if you are forced to work in NC after school, I would go to GULC. The debt is killer, but it is a t14, and it will give me options in DC, Philly, NY, and many other places. UNC is going to require you to finish top 10% to have any shot at biglaw and top 15% to have any shot at leaving the state at all anytime soon.

If it helps, I'm turning down a few t20 (not any t14 though) to go to UNC in-state. And I plan on leaving the state after graduation. About 60% of UNC grads stay in NC, which is partially due to self selection (since most students are from NC), but a significant portion of the class leaves. Leaving the state will definitely require more legwork, but it's certainly possible.
