Definitely Michigan. The difference isn't even that great when you factor in USC's cost of living.

I'm from the Midwest and Michigan has been a dream goal, but I will have to take on a lot of debt..

If I could say for certain that I wanted to live in LA then USC would make more sense, but I'm not so sure..

Please Help me with what makes more sense! - thanks

Would you be willing to practice in Los Angeles (and pretty much only Los Angeles)? If your answer is "yes," then I can actually imagine taking the $60K, depending on total debt (for example, if you have $$$ saved for living expenses, then that might tilt in favor of USC).

Same boat here with Michigan v. Vandy. If you want Michigan, just keep telling yourself that if you can't get biglaw from Michigan, at least you've got a pretty awesome LRAP to fall back on. At USC, if you strike out at a high salary position, even the reduced debt will be difficult to pay off and there's not much of a safety net.
