So this is my situation and I have to make a decision by today since Hastings deposit is due today or I lose scholarship money. I am from Socal so you would have to add cost of living if I go to San fran. Not just based on the money, but what is the better decision to make? job prospects with this economy, ability to pay off debt...

Hastings. This is not a hard decision. Full-Ride's are awfully tempting but so are good jobs when you graduate.

That should make your choice easier.
From personal experience I know Southwestern places well in local government- and Hastings is also known for government work because of its close access to courthouses in San Fransisco and an extensive alumni network. However, the prestige/recognition/portability within CA of a Hastings degree would make it much easier to get a good paying private job than an SW one would.
