tOSU, U of AZ, or Case??

I'm originally from Ohio and went to UG by Chicago. I love the midwest and west coast, and prefer city life to suburbia. I'm not sure where/what I want to practice. Therefore, which school has the best all around employment options after graduation and the best out of state/region placement?? I enjoyed my visit at each school.
Before you vote: I realize costs are different, but my generous parents are offering to ease my loan burden somewhat. So that is one of many factors but not necessarily my deciding factor.
Thanks for all your help!!

I face a similar decision, although the schools I'm considering are tOSU, U of Arizona, and U of Wisconsin. I am very interested in others' opinions as to which one they would choose and why. I hope you don't mind my jumping onto your thread.

Ohio State is better than Case. It has better placement statistics and it's incoming class is far superior to OSU. Also, I am pretty sure that $20k from Case has a precarious GPA req. tOSU>Case every time, especially for an instate student.

I didn't vote, as I am a 0L who doesn't know anything about the midwest, but I currently live in Phoenix, and I will say that from what I've seen, Tucson (the location of U of A) is neither west-coast nor city. It would be a 2 hour drive to coast (and that would be...in Mexico). BUT, U of A might have some pull on the CA job market...but that's a big maybe.
Added caveat: I've only lived in LA, suburban southern CA, and Phoenix, but I can say without a doubt that I LOVE Arizona! Just know that Tucson is a small city and is a bit isolated!

Yes, I'm a resident of Ohio. I'm interested in a clerkship, but again, with these schools I don't know how likely that is either.

I'd say Arizona because I'd fucking hate to live in Ohio, but that is just my personal preference. Ohio State over Case, especially as you get in state tuition for that school. If you want to stay in the midwest Ohio State is as good as any school you could choose, short of a Chicago powerhouse, for the midwest. If you want to enjoy the weather and the women, I'd head to Arizona.

Clerkships are almost always difficult to come by, but as the clerkship stats show (
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =1&t=75513) OSU (17) > UA (32) > Case (84). Combined with the in-statte tuition at OSU, that sounds like a good choice. I will say, though, that I moved from Ohio to AZ and will never move back.

None of those schools really have GREAT regional placement, so I would go where you would like living the best. Personally, I would choose AZ.

I wouldnt choose either, neither of them will put you in biglaw unless you get top 10 percent. Enjoy document review!

I'm as big an AZ homer as anyone, but, from what you described, I'd go with tOSU.

Ohio State dominates its state and region the most. Point OSU.
Case definitely has the widest alumni base and geographical reach. Point Case.
Tucson is NOT small (imho, especially if any Ohio cities meet your definition of a city), but U of A narrowly beats ASU in Phoenix and obliterates ASU in Tucson. Tucson has 541k, with a metro well over 1 Mil. Also, combining all clerkships (including Article I magistrates and state courts), U of A places over 20 percent into clerkships.
If West Coast includes AZ (to you), then consider AZ.
If West Coast is just CA/OR/WA, then go with Case or OSU. Then (to me) it comes down to whether you want more portability (Case) or are satisfied with a good job in Ohio (OSU).

Case is an excellent school for government (as is George Mason). It places very well along the east coast (including DC) in that area. However if you are not interested in government, I would go elsewhere.
Ohio state and U of AZ? Interchangeable. Neither receive much recognition outside of their states, but this is true for almost all public law programs.
Midwest? Ohio State
Southwest (not CA)? U of AZ
It really is that simple.

Does anyone know about the employment prospects in either state? I know Ohio is hurting, but I assume AZ is in a similar situation. Does one state have an edge currently ITE?

Ohio is hurting pretty bad. I would think (hope) Arizona isn't hurting that bad.

Arizona is pretty messed up right now.

Huge budget problems resulting from a real estate driven economy. In another thread I think someone pointed out that there are only 40 2L summer positions with big firms to be had in the Phoenix area. Figure in the competition from UA, ASU, other regional schools, and T14 kids that want to come out here and you're left with slim pickings.

I've seen a better chart that shows job loss/gain in differect sectors at each state, but I can't find it now
