Wisdom Wanted

I was hoping some of you would share your thoughts on my options. I'd like to go into entertainment/athlete/sports franchise representation after graduation. Location doesn't much matter to me, though it'd be nice to have the option to come back to the east coast, given that my family lives in NYC.

Wake Forest (30K in debt after graduation)
Fordham (90K in debt after graduation)
Iowa (40K in debt after graduation)
Tulane (0 debt)

I'm also waitlisted at every school and its mother. The interesting options include Notre Dame, William and Marry, Wash & Lee and Hastings. Not sure if I should pursue those or not, but if you've got advice to pass along on that front I'm all ears.

Thanks so much...

Fordham is obscenely expensive, but given your career goals it is probably your best option, in my opinion. Good luck!

if you don't mind sharing, what are your numbers? It's amazing that you got a full scholarship to Tulane but didn't get accepted to W&L.

is this debt before or after interest?

Actually I didn't get full tuition at Tulane, though I did get half. The debt figures I posted take into account the money that I've saved for school, with cost of living factored in. I'm mid 160's with a 3.5

Did you just +1 yourself?

I would re-evaluated your career goals. If you are deadset on that line of practice then you might not want to go to any of those schools. Sports agency etc. is extremely difficult to get into and it is a very small niche.

My understanding is that Tulane has the most respected sports law program of all those schools. In fact, they are the only one in the group that has a Sports Law Journal. I can't speak to entertainment law.

Just wanted to resurrect this to see if anyone else has input. Is taking on a debt of 30K to go to Wake ill-conceived, especially when I could go to Tulane and come out debt free?

Does the Tulane scholarship have top 40% stipulations? Those are dangerous.

Nah it's 3.0 gpa stipulation, which, from what I've heard, is the median GPA. Thoughts?

If you want to work on the east coast, go to Fordham.

Notre Dame is also a good choice. Forget the rest.

I've taken into account money I've saved up as well as scholarship money received from each school. So, these figures are what I'm looking at, debt-wise, at the time of graduation:

Wake Forest (30K in debt after graduation)
Fordham (90K in debt after graduation)
Iowa (40K in debt after graduation)
Tulane (0 debt)

This is all assuming I don't get a summer internship that helps to pay off some debt...
