This should be an easy decision for you OP, since you obviously want to go to Michigan, but I'll give you a few more reasons to go blue. You said you want to do an environmental law clinic, and I assume this means you have an interest in doing environmental law after you graduate. So, here you go:

Michigan's Debt Management Program:

Virginia's Loan Forgiveness Program:

Michigan easily wins. And don't discount your feelings about needing to live in a liberal environment. I completely understand and agree with you on that point, and it's one reason I'm going to be withdrawing from Duke in favor of Michigan.

Finally, I think you should seriously U of Chicago with $$. They are going to be revamping their LRAP and announcing it shortly. And you really don't have to live in Hyde Park to attend the university, especially if you would be happier living in another neighborhood. I'm actually visiting a friend in Hyde Park this week and I can tell you that there are some cool up-and-coming neighborhoods on the south side as well the traditionally fun places to live on the north side.

But go with where you would be happiest, because all of these schools will open up an infinite amount of doors if you are able to get the grades.

Meh.. I agree on this lay prestige thing. Why are people so fixated on it? Who cares which school is going to impress non-legal people more? Besides, lay prestige changes depending on which part of the country you're in.
What makes any mention of lay prestige even more ridiculous is that we're talking about Michigan and Virginia.

Though as they currently stand Michigan's LRAP > Virginia's, this seems to assume that practicing environmental law = needing LRAP. Not every environmental lawyer is saving the trees, you know.

OP also has a significant scholarship to UChi. A three way shitshow for worse lay prestige.

@OP Don't be crazy, go to UChi, get an apartment far away from Hyde Park if you must.

Sounds like we may have gone to the same school (or at least the same type of school hah)
