I have been accepted to Penn State with a 60k scholarship (20k a year) and I am still waiting to hear from Ohio but have been complete and under review for about 8 weeks, so I expect to hear back soon.

If I am accepted to The Ohio State University, I anticipate that I will not receive any money. Is their higher ranking worth paying sticker for if my other option is Penn State with 20k a year?

Definitely OSU. But just because I need your scholly money at PSU

Ohio State -- wayyy better job prospects.

You can claim in-state after your 1L year, which saves a lot. Sticker at OSU is around $140,000 for all three years, including living expenses and everything, which is pretty cheap (relatively).

It really depends on where you want to practice. I don't think an Ohio State degree is worth all that much in Pennsylvania, and vice versa.

Anyone else care to chime in?

Penn State isn't worth that much even in PA

Fucking Ohio State. I think some of the larger PA firms still do OCI at Moritz. Just do OSU. In-state is easy to get after 1st year-

My stats are 160/3.85 and no, I'm not a URM. Like I said, if I even get accepted, I'm not expecting any money.

This could boil down to where you want to practice/what you want to do. Penn State sucks the hind tit behind a lot of schools in Philly, which has been devastated anyway, and Pittsburgh's not a huge market (and besides, PSU would trail Pitt and probably Case there).

Then again, I'm not sure how comfy I'd be paying sticker for Ohio State either.

So my deposit at Penn State is due April 1st ($500). But, I have yet to hear from OSU. If I am accepted after I pay my Penn State deposit (I do not have a lot of money and it is financially stressful on me as it is just to pay the deposit), is it really worth throwing away the $500 I paid to Penn State to then pay my deposit for OSU and go to there?

I would take the scholarship. Even if your goal is biglaw, it's not like you'd be attending Stanford where 50% of it's graduates go on to make a biglaw salary. What if you take out the $140k in loans and don't make biglaw? How do you expect to pay back that ~$1400/mo. student loan for 10 yrs? If someone else is paying for your tuition, then go with OSU

I would take the scholarship then. I'm looking at the same situation and I'm taking the scholarship, because I have quite a bit of UG loans and have realized just how bad paying them back sucks.

I am interested in dispute resolution and PSU is ranked 12th for that...so I think if I have a good experience at Open House then I will be sending in my check.
