Phi Beta Kappa Worth the $95?

Post by sfdreaming09 » Tue Mar 02, 2010 6:55 pm

Hey guys, quick question: is it worth it to spend the $95 on Phi Beta Kappa membership even though I’ve already gone through the whole application process? Would it look good in the future (I’ve noticed that most firms list PBK membership under their attorney profiles)?

Just wondering if I should spend the $ or not (esp. b/c I’ll be going to one of HYS, so I’m assuming that they’ll just assume that everybody coming out of those schools was a PBK in college).

Yes. It's worth $95 to have it as a resume line item for the rest of time, I think.

And if you're going to YHS, you can afford it.

+95. It's the only honor society that's worth it, but it is indeed worth it.

This. It's the only the that matters.

"So and so graduated Phi Beta Kappa from XYZ University with a B.A. in Awesomeness" can be seen on attorney profiles. No other honor societies are.

Yes, yes, yes join Phi Beta Kappa. I wish I wouldn't have wasted money on the others, but Phi Beta Kappa is definitely worth it.

yes, definitely worth it. Except for your cum-laude status, it's the last thing that everyone takes off their resume dating from undergraduate. You'll want to have it while you apply for jobs the next few years.

a license to forever brag about your college gpa in a politically correct way :P (people that put college GPA on their resume a long time after graduating are considered tool-ish)
