Tulane or UNC

I am a NC resident recently accepted at both Tulane and UNC.
I was given the Dean's scholy at Tulane and have yet to hear from UNC about any financial info.
I recognize that cost of living would be more in New Orleans but everything else being equal the tuition is about the same for both schools.

Where should I go? I ultimately do not want to end up in NC. New Orleans is really tempting.
I am concerned a bit about Tulane's ranking but there really isn't a HUGE difference between the two schools ranking wise.

If you don't want to end up in NC, I'd say Tulane is your pick. Any other options? Any other desires as far as where you want to practice?

Yeah I have American, Wake Forest, FSU (nah), UConn, Penn State
The only real options I'm considering are American, Tulane and UNC. I'm not a big fan of American at sticker price though (they haven't sent out scholly info yet).
Waitlisted at a few others but I've eliminated those for considering really.
I don't care really where I end up as long as it isn't NC haha.

Have you ever been to New Orleans? It's a truly unique place, but some people don't like it. I personally think it's a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to settle down/start a family in New Orleans.

I guess if you don't like New Orleans, Tulane can put you into Houston or maybe to other parts in the South. I wouldn't pay sticker for American, either.

Don't expect much from American. They should be dropped from your list unless you want GOV'T/PI in DC.

For this reason, visit. Stay for more than just a weekend if you can.

Haha funny thing is I was born in New Orleans.
I love being down there.
I've been trying to find data on job placement from Tulane do you know anything about it? Where do the graduates go mostly if not staying in New Orleans?

I'd say go to Tulane. You have a good scholarship and NOLA is where you want to be. Sticker would likely be a terrible idea but you are only looking at about $115k, excluding summer earnings set-offs. This seems manageable for a T1 graduate.

Here's a page with a bunch of their employment data:

If you do not want to end up in NC then UNC is probably not the best choice.

American at sticker = terrible idea.

Tulane is ranked 45th, but most of their grads are able to leave the state and find jobs elsewhere. They have alum in most important places.
