Kentucky vs. LSU

Still waiting on a possible scholarship or two, but at this point I am deciding between these two schools. I have visited both schools and could see myself settling in either location. Scholarships from both schools makes tuition cost about equal. Thanks!

It really just ends up falling on which location you would prefer and cost.

I think LSU has some quirks in its curriculum tailored to Louisiana's unique legal environment. If you want to be in Louisiana, this is obviously ideal, otherwise it could be limiting. Something to consider. I confess that I am not very familiar with it.

Thanks for the replies. For those that voted, is there any reason you chose one over the other?

In the long run they are both Gator bait. On the other hand, the area around Kentucky Law appeals to me more. I like the seasons of the upper South.

UK. Honestly been to both, LSU is awesome but UK is a better school and has ties to better legal markets.

Come here during basketball season (especially now that we're good again), and you'll understand. LSU is awesome at football, but Kentucky is the mecca of college basketball.

p.s. Florida, you have been irrelevant in the college basketball world since 2007.

I'm sorry but I must object, Kentucky is not the Mecca of college baskteball...right now its def. UNC they have more recent national titles and the greatest player to ever play the game is an alumni. OP you should go to UNC Law.

Tough choice. With LSU you are close enough to New Orleans to go party. Other than that I don't see alot seperating the two. Review the state, see if you like the general culture at one more than the other, as well as climate. If still no difference, flip a coin.

Also, if you are not a resident of LA, good luck getting in state tuition. I called Monday and was told you have to live in the state for a year and work full-time in order to qualify for in state. I have no idea what Kentucky is like in this regard.

Thanks! It seems like the consensus here is that while LSU may be slightly better socially, Kentucky is a slightly better school with access to better legal markets. Anyone else?

I agree. I think people just assume KY is better because the USNWR rankings say so, and KY's medians are a bit higher. At the end of the day, they are really just state schools that are good in their respective region. Go visit both and see which one you like better.

The one edge I'd give to KY is that it is the best law school in its state while LSU is #2.

haha yes, back-to-back is impressive (although I would never admit that in person).

Facility-wise, LSU kicks Kentucky's ass, no doubt about that. But portability wise, you could make a stronger argument for UK. There honestly probably isn't that much of a difference, but I just don't like Louisiana that much.

And Kentucky Basketball > LSU Football, sorry to say.

True but from what I have heard must Tulane grads leave the state. Again if you can get in state tuition after the first year, got to Kentucky. If not, how do you feel about cajun food?

I actually really like cajun food, and I love the culture down in Louisiana. I have family and friends in New Orleans so I have visited there numerous times. But I also really like Kentucky. It seems to be a good mix of what I love about the South and the Midwest. I have a tough decision ahead of me.

Oh and LSU teaches both common and civil law so you can practice in LA or the other 49 states if you choose to do so.

Being a really rich, really famous, arguably really powerful SOB makes up for what one lacks in the looks department.
