Top Law Schools

I am in at UNC as of last week but do not have any real connection to NC other than, it seems like a great place.

I am from Florida (no huge desire to go back) and am in undergrad in Dallas, TX (I would come back, but not intent on it). Mostly I just want to keep my cone of options as large as possible. Obviously UNC's name is strongest in NC but I wonder how strong it is outside of the state other than to basketball fans. I am very interested in DC but open to a lot of options.

I know there is a lot of stuff out there that says south east options are good for UNC grads, but what is the major truth behind this? Does anyone have any real life anecdotes they can share? or things they have heard that could shed some light on this?

Also, UNC advertises their public service strengths a lot. I am wondering what kind of work this translates into and the financial (salary) prospects. Is this a strong suit for the school or is this pushed upon students?

Scroll down to see the class of '08. It's guaranteed that the numbers don't look like that anymore, so make sure you're comfortable living in Charlotte.

You definitely can make it to DC with a UNC degree but you lose the biggest benefit (the ridiculous alumni network) by taking it out of NC. Without knowing where else you're looking at, it's hard to say if it's your best bet. Congrats on the acceptance though! Hoping one of those is in my future!

Were it not for the economy I would personally feel pretty comfortable with a UNC Law degree from Birmingham to maybe NYC (say what you will). ITE I wouldn't expect to leave NC/SC/GA within the first few years.
