Re: UT vs USC
What are your career goals? Do you want to practice in TX or California? Hippies or surfers? Cattle or tofu? Do you really want to go to a school that hires Lane Kiffen as head football coach? (He recruits 13 year olds, lest we forget.)mte84 wrote:Totally indecided... thoughts?

For those that want to practice in California, USC is an EXCELLENT choice.
For those that want to practice in Texas, UT is an EXCELLENT choice.

Re: UT vs USC
Is there a significant difference between the clerkship opportunities at the two schools?

UT routinely places in the Fifth Circuit COA. Not sure about USC, though.Darlington wrote:Is there a significant difference between the clerkship opportunities at the two schools?

Really? I'm hesitant to believe this. I don't think either school places particularly well in the Bay, but USC is a respected brand even in Northern California. UT, not as much.im_blue wrote:For LA: USC

USC
Now that UCLA is having budget problems, USC will once again be better school in SoCal.

UT. Texas's economy is doing much better than CA's, so you have a better shot at landing a job out of law school.

I love the utter economic myopia and completely lack of foresight that runs rampant on TLS. This economy is going to recover. California's too. Three years is a long time in market-years - things will likely change. Obviously, it might get worse, but it might get better. Much better.ibingham wrote:UT. In which case, you'll want to be somewhere that makes you happy, even if you have to "slum" it for a little while, making $90k at a mid-sized firm (Oh, what a cruel and unjustified death... )
