Top Law Schools

Hi Everyone!
So, I know it's really late to be deciding about school for the fall, but I got in off a few waitlists and am now feeling quite overwhelmed (though happy.)

So, I was in at Penn and Cornell and just got in off the waitlists at Virginia and Michigan. Had pretty much decided on Penn ( even though I wasn't getting money and from Cornell I was getting some) because I'm a city person and the vibe seemed more laidback, and it's close to my family in NYC. I've heard really good things about UVA as far as quality of life, so I don't know if I should be seriously conisering them too. Any thoughts?

I know Penn is the highest ranking, but they're all pretty close. Should that matter much in your opinion? I'm a fairly laid back person, and really care about having a good quality of life. I feel like they're all good schools, but what are peoples thoughts on where people are the happiest?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

personally, I would go to Michigan. I think I would feel most comfortable and happiest there...I really don't think you can go wrong in whatever your decision is though...all will open a lot of doors for you-sorry I'm not much help. Best of luck!

I would go to Penn. I love the city of brotherly love.

So, to answer your questions I want to come back to NYC after graduation. What appeals to me about Penn is that I like Philly and it is really close to my family and friends in NY. School wise i think I like UVA the best, ( I think it's the most collegial and laid back of the bunch) but Charlottesville is rather far, and I am more of a city person. I guess I'm just trying to balance which is factors are most important. From what I'm hearing people tend to love UVA, but I've heard really positive thoughts on Penn as well. I think Cornell and Michigan are out, and I'm leaing towrds Penn, but if I get anough feedback that people are way happier at UVA then I would go there.

Thoughts?

There's no one qualified to adequately answer your question - no one has been a 1L at both schools.

Penn seems like a good QOL school as well. Seriously, how much more information can you consider? Everyone here is just telling you "I've heard this." You have all the facts and the opinions. Go with your gut at this point. Your gut appears to say "Penn! Seriously. Why aren't you listening to me already?"

UVA is beauuuutiful....and the people there are more friendly than philly people.

(i used to reside in philly, and be around upenn facilities...good nightlife and great city, but uva is like my perfect college setting, so im kinda biased)

UVA people are happier. WAY happier, I don't think I know the answer to that, but I can tell you I bet even that's true come Oct-March. Plus, ever heard of FebClub?

For sure, if you're a city person Charlottesville would (and should) raise some flags. But it's got a ton for a city it's size, and with D.C. only 2 hours away, you can get into a major metropolis any time you want.

Follow your gut in this decision. But know that UVA has all that you want; but with better looking people

I can vouch that the majority of people love, not just like, UVA. It has great networking due to the overly obnoxious level of pride (I got my 1L summer firm job that way before grades even came out). NYC is not as hard to get from UVA because the vast majority of people are vying for DC so you have less competition.

I will admit of those that I know who transferred out, many of them did so because they missed living in a big city. All of them were from NYC and were just too used that that lifestyle to adapt to a smaller setting. OTOH, many NYers love spending just a few years here - we have plenty of them.

It is so interesting to see how the pendulum swings in this forum. Like you can't read a thread without "retake or don't go to law school" popping up.
