All I can say is I've got a 166 and 3.29, been out of college and living abroad for three years and I applied to UVA ED (and have already been denied). I've also applied to BC, BU, GW, Fordham and Minnesota. I think I'll get one or two of those. I also rounded out my applications with most of the 20-30 schools and a few around 35.

Yeah I figure the top half of that is very slim but what can I say I started off aiming high. Starting to get more realistic as I spend more time on here. My safety is BYU and with its value it is starting to look mighty good. Plus I'm Mormon to boot so

CAL - OUT
Northwestern - OUT
UVA - OUT
UCLA - OUT
USC - OUT
BC - WL/OUT
BU - WL/OUT
GWU - WL/OUT
Fordham - WL/?
UMinn - WL/IN

Bottom line is you should definitely apply to some backup schools. The only schools I'd say you have a mediocre shot at here are Fordham and Minnesota, and even they (Minnesota) have a pretty high bar to clear when it comes to the LSAT. (Minnesota's median is 167 and top 75% is 168). Have you considered a retake? Just a couple of points higher and you increase your chances a lot. A 168-169 would make you competitive at most of these schools sans Cal, NU, and UVA.
