3.3/166, WUSTL Chances

Postby Dybbuk » Thu Oct 12, 2017 2:17 pm

I'm decided upon WUSTL as my ideal school (coming from the Midwest and ok staying here, so whether or not it can get me jobs on the coasts is not a huge factor to me). I think I am going to apply for early decision as well. Do you think these numbers are high enough to give me a shot? Law school numbers seems to put me at about 50/50, so I am hoping making it clear they are my top l choice will tip the scales in my favor. My softs aren't anything special, beyond studying abroad, being gay (however this is weighted), and currently working in a non-for-profit job with intellectually disabled individuals.

Other schools I am interested in are GW, UCLA, USC, and Michigan (especially big reach there, I know). Any thoughts on those are appreciated as well.

Does not look promising.

Why do you want to pay sticker?
I'd apply more broadly. UIUC and other midwest flagships should be really generous given your LSAT.
Unclear on your unstated career goals so that warrants another discussion, but I don't like the ED plan.

Also you should retake and go to Wustl for free. 3 points would get you there.

IIRC, WUSTL gives full-tuition to ED applications. At least, I think that was the case in the past.

Oh I just assumed OP was talking about the non-full ride ED because there is no way he's getting the full ride one.

I think chances of admission, being well below both medians, is marginal at best. I think the chances of bagging the ED full scholarship are near zero.

If your LSAT were any higher, you'd be a guaranteed admit, though I'm not sure your chances at ED are great with a 3.3.

You need to time travel back to 2013 when those stats would have gotten you a full ride at WUSTL.

Thanks for the help. I am applying to other, safer schools as well. I just mentioned my more reaching schools in the first post. So is there really not much chance at all? I had seen some applicants on LSN with the same numbers admitted in the past 5 cycles, so I was hoping ED would push them to admit me. I am signed up for december, but I really, really didn't want to retake. I've PTed in the low 170s. It's frustrating that 2 points or so seem to make such a huge difference, 168 applicants seem to almost all get accepted it seems.

I know it's a pain and you're so close yet so far, but definitely give this retake your all. It could be worth 6figures at WUSTL.
