3.95 / 170 – Chances at YHS?
Looking at LSN it seems like people with roughly my stats are somewhat less than a coin flip into one of the top 3 schools. What separates those that get in from those that don't? Work experience? Softs? Essays / LoRs?

Softs (WE, publications, etc.), PS, LORs, interview, and application timing are used to differentiate people with similar stats, outside of the obvious bump of URM status

When you say "roughly" your stats, do you mean that you've been plugging higher LSAT scores in with your GPA? Because for HYS, there's a difference between a 170 and a 173+.
When I plug in a 170/3.90-3.97 to MyLSN it shows less than coin-flip chances at all three schools. But as mentioned, your softs become the deciding factor when you have the numbers, especially for YS.
