167/3.5 from NYU

Post by clkips » Fri Mar 03, 2017 5:42 pm

Hey,
Just took the LSAT for the first time, got a 167.

Was doing between 168-172 on the pts, so obviously I was disappointed, but not quite sure I can work up the effort to take the test again.

Do I have any chance at T6? Or should I pull up my big girl panties and take the test again?

Decent softs (currently work as para in big law; some college work) and not urm.

(Sorry about the 5.5 typo)

With a 5.5, they can easily get Princeton Law.

Doubt it. I heard Princeton law denied several 185/6.0's

If you meant 167, 3.5, little to no chance at T6. You need 170+. Retake.

+185. Grade inflation is a serious problem.

With a 3.5/167 you have a shot at GULC or Cornell, but for T6 you'll need at least a 170-171.

I also had a 167, 3.5 out of NYU. Got it to 168 after a retake. Going to take it again in June (was PTing around 172).

I applied really late this cycle. Waitlisted at UVA. In with decent scholarship at Wash U. Most of my Apps are still pending but you should see slightly better results with an early application. You have a chance of getting into a lower t-14 with your current numbers. Should do great with the other top 20 schools.

Will need a retake if you want to do well with the t-14.

For reference, I applied late-ish this cycle with 167 and 3.85, and I still haven't heard back from NYU (it's going to be WL or ding, was WL'd last cycle w/ a 165/3.85)

Retake. I did i three times. Just do it, and study your ass off.
