168/3.5/5+years removed from Undergrad

Post by TBB51 » Fri Mar 03, 2017 1:52 am

Evening all,

I applied to 10 schools and have heard back from five. One of them, Ohio State, offered me full tuition and which has basically knocked all but three schools from consideration on my part.

Those 3 are Duke, Vandy and Michigan which are my 3 reach schools that I applied to.

I think I have good softs in that I've worked professionally as a journalist for 5 years and won some investigative awards in the process. My personal statement is, I think, quite compelling and I've already received pretty good feedback on it from the places that did admit me.

Wondering if I have any shot at those three, let alone any $.

Thanks for helping me pass the time between LSAC tracker refreshers.

When did you apply? With a September application, I'd say you have like a 90% chance of acceptance to Vandy and a good chance at $$, but basically 0% at Duke and UVA. However, note that if you have a 169, your odds with an early application at both Duke and UVA probably goes above 50%.

I applied in late January to all 10 schools.

And the third school was UM not UVA. Appreciate your thoughts. That guys profile you linked is very similar to my situation but he took it twice to get 168, my 168 was my one and only attempt. Does that make a difference?

Not looking to retake as most of my PT scores were in mid 160s, only one was a 169, so I consider my 168 as my reasonable ceiling.
