Need based grants aren't really a thing. You get scholarship money. It is either merit-based, need-based, or both. Most schools only do what equates to a merit-based scholarship (sometimes with need-based factors included). So you may get a slight bump in your scholarship offer for a financial hardship. Some schools exclude you from need-based consideration if you are awarded a merit-scholarship. Other than that, you're figuring another way to pay for law school (outside scholarship, loans, savings, etc).

Your the first person to say they're not really a thing. Most T14 schools offer it and a lot of people report getting offers between 10-20k the first year. What makes you think that? Penn processes merit based scholarships before they process need based because a FAFSA is required first for need based. I'm just looking for a little boost of 10k a year for 3 years. 30k off the top would still be helpful

there are three* schools that give need based aid. Good news is your GPA is good enough for those schools!
*and two more that give a "mix"

Lol. I cared, though. I had two majors: one was a STEM and final gpa was 3.1~. The other was in the humanities, final gpa was 3.9x. The average puts me at splitter status :x

This thread is giving me a heart attack. Just do the math! 100-200 hours of studying will be worth tens of thousands of dollars in additional money at a top tier school. The LSAT is learnable! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, I'd kill for your GPA.

LOL I know but I seriously studied for more than 5 months. I spent hundreds of dollars on books and thoroughly went through the material multiple times. I've taken every PT available. I might be able to score a couple extra points, but even a 164/165 won't get me any money at U Penn. I would need at least a 168 in order to get enough fin aid from a T14 to be persuaded to attend one school over another. Obviously I wish I could count on myself preforming better on the LSAT, but I'm just trying to be realistic. I'm preparing to take it again in FEB. Eeeeeeek
