How Often do Law Schools Change Admissions Philosophies? Forum

Hey,

I was wondering how commonplace is it for schools to change their acceptance philosophies ( ie. splitter friendly/unfriendly, emphasis on softs, etc)

For instance U of Chicago has become notoriously more GPA- centric now compared to in the past when there were high volumes of apps

Even as recently as 2010 the splits for 25/50/75 were 3.57/3.66/3.79 with over 5,000 apps

But now what would have been a upper 75% GPA just a few years ago is the new bottom 25% GPA for the incoming Fall 2014 class (4,400 apps)

Chicago changed when the Ruby became a thing. Changes like that are really rare. And even that change was really just them deciding to buy a slightly higher GPA rather than any kind of wholesale change
