Chances 171/3.95/Part URM

Post by Necho2 » Mon Mar 09, 2015 11:43 pm

So I am part Hispanic, part Caucasian, always identified myself as both when given the option. I have a 3.95 GPA from a good school, graduated a year early, got a 166 on my first LSAT, then retook and got a 171. When I look at places like LSN, it feels like the schools I'd love to go to (Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Boalt, Columbia) I have a chance at, but how good of a chance depends on the "strength" of my URM status. Extracurriculars are decent, worked at a think-tank then a consulting firm, so what do my odds look like at the top 5-6 schools. I'm trying to get a sense of what range I have a very solid chance at, and where I might not really have much of one at all. Thanks!

Very good. Apply to the whole T14 and see what you come up with. Maybe consider retaking a third time because why not increase your chances at Yale/Hamilton/Ruby if you can.

Taking it 3 times doesn't look good -- I think if you apply early with that LSAT/GPA combo, you'd be competitive for HYS

Taking it three times will look fine. Schools will report your highest score only. It's a no risk situation and with the LSAT you're currently at, every point will make your cycle even better. If you're up for June, go for it.

You should know what you're talking about before you talk about it.

What "type" of Hispanic are you? If your Hispanic side is of Mexican, Chicano, or Puerto Rican decent, then you will be given URM status. It doesn't matter that your only half. If that's the case, then your gonna have an amazing cycle with your numbers. If not, you will still probably have an amazing cycle anyways. lol

yeah this is whack.

anyway, 171 + 3.95 + URM = your wildest dreams.

also 1/2 URM = 1/1 URM, officially and for sure. you can pm me if you want proof.
