^^ myLSN is TCR b/c your Canadian GPA will be turned into an LSDAS GPA treated the same as any U.S. GPA. You shouldn't be at a disadvantage because of it. Your softs might be good PS material but won't really matter that much.

ETA. depending on your goals, UofT might be a better choice than Columbia, but I'm sure you've considered that.
oh and also the OLSAS GPA calculation is definitely different than LSAC, if that's what you're using.

Throw and spit

LSAC is the alpha and the omega. They control all, and they are all. You are at their mercy.

Your best bet is to just send in a transcript to LSAC to find out, but if you're looking for an estimate, I used this site: http://www.lawpad.com/gpa_calculator/ and it predicted my LSAC GPA exactly.

Thanks!! Good to know that admission standards are the same. And yeah I figured that the softs wouldn't really factor into it.

Yes, I will definitely apply to Canadian schools like UofT, but if going to US is feasible, I would prefer that.

Wow, good to know that the OLSAS GPA calculation is definitely different. Do you know how they are different, and do you know whether there are better conversion processes that I can use? Or is there no way of knowing except by just throwing your transcript at LSAC and see what they spit out? :o

Not entirely sure, TBH.

LSAC counts A+ as 4.33 I think, and obviously that's different (but might not matter if there's no letter grade associated with your %). FWIW I had a column 8 GPA that was identical to my LSAC GPA.

My gpa got a 0.13 boost from OLSAS to LSDAS so you might be able to look forward to that.

... Yeah, you're right, I think the only way at this point is to just send + see. I really hope they do take foreign institutions into account, because the LSDAS GPA chart looks ridiculous if you apply it to Canadian grades - a 90-92 is only 3.67?! 87-89 is 3.33 ?!?!? I'm just trying think positively because there's nothing I can do anyway, but kind of freaking out right now :/

yeah US grading is ridiculous.

Oh, hey, that's the chart I used to get 3.91. I'm column 3, UWaterloo. Wait, I just noticed that under Waterloo it says columns "3,7". Might this mean that whatever percentage grade you see in Column 3 will translate into the Alpha grades in Column 7? From what I read online, it seems that LSAC will use the Alpha grades to convert to GPA, so if UWaterloo transcript will show both % and Alpha grades, I will be soooooooo happy.

I will call my university and find out! Thanks so much for your help!! Do you know where you are going yet?

PM'd!

Well LSAC uses the percent with a very bad translation for Canadian system, I have heard it is possible to get your school registrar to contact LSAC and say something like "x is a better representation of his performance." There are a couple Canadian schools where this seemed routine. Just send a transcript, then if it is horrible try calling.
