Alright, so after all the pushing, I've been giving some thought to potentially taking a gap year and retaking. That raises an important question, though:

If I were to take a year and apply next cycle instead, would I need to ask for new letters of recommendation? How long do recommendations stay active on the LSAC website? Do schools often have date-related cut offs?

hi,

to echo what others have said, please, for the love of your God, retake. With that GPA, if you matched your practice scores, you could get in anywhere. If at YHS, they'd pay back your loans if you do PI, and you have a decent chance of getting a named scholarship at CCN or a ton of money below that.

Not sure how much debt you'd have to service by taking a year off--this is definitely a factor. But let's say you had $100k in student loans at 8%. That's a minimum of $8k, probably more like $12k given minimum payments. By studying for 4-6 weeks and scoring at or better than your PTs, you'd save up to A HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS.

besides, it's good to have a break from academia. please please please retake

If this is truly your dream school and you would choose ND even if vastly better options were on the table, then you're good to go and will very likely be admitted with pretty good money (ND is a bit stingy with scholarships, however).

You're a lock for BC & BU as well.

What we're saying is that you should probably reconsider you dream school because you have the potential to do better. But if you're insistent, then good luck.
