Chance an International For HYS Penn 3.8/175
Hi Guys,
Canadian here hoping to to be in the US next year. I'm a history major with a minor in Poli Sci. These are my softs
President of My school's Pre law club and History Student's Association
Editor in Chief Of the History and Political Science Undergraduate Journals
2 research internships with profs in the History Faculty
Summer Internship at a think tank
Summer Internship at the US consulate
Dean's List 3 years in a row
Merit Scolarships
I think I should get good enough recs and my essay will be good too. I'm really worried that my gpa is below the median for HYS and Penn. Do you guys think my softs will make up for that?
Thanks!

You'll probably get into HLS. Check mylsn.info

LSAT is above median for all of HYS and Penn so you're fine. Your GPA isn't far off Penn's median. You should be locked at Penn, coin flip or better at H, and at least have a shot at Y and S (although it's a crapshoot, anyway). Those softs should help your case at Y and S if it's a close call.
No worries, you should get in to at least two/four with a shot at batting for the cycle.

Yeah I guess I should probably consider columbia.james.bungles wrote:Softs are average, as above said coin flip at H and probably best to assume out at Y and S.
Should be in at CCN so I don't know why you didn't include them, as your best option if you don't get H will probably be Columbia (unless you have some specific reason to be in philly).
So what are good softs for HYS?

Your numbers are close to mine and was recently accepted at Penn. Still waiting for HLS interview. If you apply sufficiently early (if you are applying next year), you'll have a higher shot at HLS.

I'd write a "Why Penn?" since they're known to YP.
