171 3.72 chances

I retook a 168 and got a 171 this december. I have a 3.72 LSDAS gpa, 3.83 undergrad gpa (I like to think law schools will care).

UPenn is my dream school, then NYU and Columbia are a close second. I will apply to yale and harvard for ha-has but I'm not expecting much.

I looked at mylsn, but it is a pretty even split for accepted and waitlisted at penn and columbia.

Any help?

Penn is tougher to predict because they could YP you, assuming with your numbers you'll be CCN bound, unless you demonstrate substantial reasonable interest (writing the extra essays is a good start).

You're in at NYU. Last cycle, your chances at Columbia would be a coin flip due to LSAT, but now you are at both medians so you're their target applicant. The late application doesn't help, but it shouldn't hurt much either.

Good luck!

Thank you so much, one question though. What does YP mean? I looked it up on the abbreviations thread but I still don't know what it means

Much better news now than in november!

Yield protect. They think u wont really attend so they don't accept u. This lowers their acceptance rate which helps usnews rankings.

The best way to prevent them from YPing you is to write a Why Penn essay.

Yale: ding
Harvard: waitlist
CLS/NYU: in with a little $
UPenn: in, but maybe without money.
