Hi -

I'm looking into ED applications for Chicago and Columbia for the Fall of 2014. I've read various opinions on ED. Is this something I should consider pursuing?

I'm a Finance major, with minors in Computer Science and Math. The 3.42 is a fairly safe estimate and the 175 LSAT is realized.

Thanks!

i understand that only Chicago ED has a boost.

with that lsat, i assume you can ED Chicago. And apply regularly to Columbia and NYU.

Did you hear back from Columbia?, or did you withdraw once you got your NYU response.

I think you may have had a good chance at Columbia, especially ED (Just below their GPA 25th, and 7 points above their LSAT median)

And you scored almost a 180. I'm impressed.

I applied ED to NYU because I wanted to attend a CCN school and I have strong reasons for wanting to stay in NYC. I figured that if I applied RD, I had a coin toss at Columbia, and was very likely, but not absolutely certain to get into NYU. If I wanted to maximize the possibility of going to one of Columbia/NYU, my thinking went, I should apply ED. And if I wanted to maximize my chances of a successful ED application, that application should be to NYU.

So that's what I did, and I got in. But now that my cycle is over and done with, I feel very ambivalent about my decision to apply ED. I'm experiencing some sticker shock, and questioning the prudence of taking myself out of the merit-aid game. Further, although I'll never know, I feel that my numbers were strong enough that I probably shouldn't have been so concerned about applying NYU regular decision.

I know the thread is about CC, but these are just some things to consider before you apply ED.
Hey man, somewhat similar situation. Just trying to put sticker shock in perspective for you. Be proud bro! You worked hard because you wanted CCN, and you did it man! Who knows what may have happened if you didn't ED? Perhaps you get nothing? Maybe you did get Columbia, but is Columbia really that different from NYU that you should be bothered? Below GPA medians makes $$ hard to squeeze out of these schools anyway. Congrats on NYU! Keep ya head up!
