3.89, 167 URM
Hey everyone, first time here. I am applying to law school this cycle with a 3.89 lsac gpa from an ivy and 167 lsat score. I know I can check stats online, but I am not sure how much my URM affects my chances.
I am looking at T14 schools and most interested in Harvard, Stanford, Georgetown, and Columbia. Thank you.

What kind of URM are you?

It depends what type of URM you are, but there are several people with similar stats to you at Stanford and Harvard (actually, with lower LSAT scores as well). your GPA is above Harvard's median, which helps, too.

Are you AA? If so you should be very competitive at H and S and Columbia. You'd probably have a good shot at Y given the prestige of your UG and the strength of your GPA. I know of several AAs who got H and S with numbers significantly lower than yours. If you really want to GULC, I'm sure you could get in there too. I'm less familiar with the Latino boost, but I think if you are MA or PR, you also have a shot everywhere in the T14.lawapp2014 wrote:Hey everyone, first time here. If AA, enjoy H, good shot at YS.
If MA, enjoy T6
No idea what Native American boost really amounts too. Depends if you have tribal affiliation.
If any other URM, then good luck.

Like others said it will likely depend on which ethnic category you fall under as an URM. However, I say just blanket the entire T-14. And maybe a few schools after. Nothing past the T-25 unless you are looking to get a free ride or family issues cause you to stay local or to a designated area.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I don't know how much this affects your outlook, but I am Hispanic...Puerto Rican on my mother's side.

Not very much URM boost there. Better retake.lawapp2014 wrote:Thanks for the feedback everyone. I don't know how much this affects your outlook, but I am Hispanic...Puerto Rican on my mother's side.

Would bumping my score up to a 170 make a difference?

170 would give you a good chance at CCN, and in with $$$ down the rest of the t14. HS is a toss-up but worth sending in an application.lawapp2014 wrote:Would bumping my score up to a 170 make a difference?

Thanks for the replies. Do most schools actually average? Am I at a disadvantage in that sense? Appreciate the help.

Schools only have to report your highest score to US News, so that's all they care about generally.lawapp2014 wrote:Thanks for the replies. Do most schools actually average? Am I at a disadvantage in that sense? Appreciate the help.
