162/3.89- WUSTL Chances?
I graduated from WashU in May 2013 and I am taking the year off to work in a law firm and gain some work experience. I have a 3.86 undergrad and 3.89 LSDAS with 162 on a LSAT retake. I want to work in public interest law so I can't graduate with a lot of debt and want to live/work in the midwest-mainly St. Louis/Chicago.
What are my chances at WUSTL? I'm a female, non-urm. I might apply to SLU as a backup.

Use mylsn.info and lawschoolnumbers.com as resources since your "soft" factors are not material.
If you use those, you'll see that you likely will get accepted to WUSTL. Or at least WL--->Accepted.
I say this because 7 out of 8 of last years applicants who reported to LSN with similar numbers (3.77-3.95 GPA, 161-163 LSAT) were accepted and the other was waitlisted. If you use the last 3 years data, it is more like 50/50, but all signs indicate last year being most predictive of this year's chances across the board.
Keep in mind that WUSTL without significant scholarship money is a steep price to pay for the employment outcomes of recent classes. Search "Law School Transparency" for employment reports on various law schools.
Good luck!

And of course, the (correct) mantra on this site is RETAKE until you have exhausted your 3 tries and/or matched your practice scores from legit studying. It is such a crucial financial difference for LSAT gains. If you were to reach 165 or 166 (the new median) you would save yourself tens of thousands in tuition/loans.

4 more points and you'd have a good shot a full ride and saving yourself 100k+. Not retaking would be completely foolish.

If you're from St. Louis and are legitimately interested in both St. Louis and Chicago you might wanna look into improving your score and aiming for Northwestern or UChicago.

You say you don't want debt... so retake the test. It sucks to retake, and if you don't think you can improve your score in a month consider waiting a cycle. Getting a scholarship at WUSTL, or into a much better school, is TOTALLY IN YOUR HANDS. It's kind of cool actually. But yeah, retake.

Not good.
You need about 4-5 more points before WUSTL for cheap is a real possibility.
