158/ 3.8 GPA URM

Postby mydasmarie » Wed Oct 30, 2013 5:28 pm

Greetings everyone,

I have been debating for about 48 hours now about which option I should take with my current numbers
(158 / 3.8 GPA from Rutgers NB undergrad)

option 1 -- retake in December, apply late this cycle
option 2 -- stick with these numbers and apply to RU-newark, similar schools.
option 3 -- retake in February/June and apply next cycle

Background info: overage practice tests have been around 161, highest ever being a 163. I took a prep course already as well. I am a Puerto Rican URM with typical softs including internships, involvement with orgs on campus, few academic recognitions. I really do need scholarships for law school (I went to the school I attend now for undergrad with a full tuition scholarship).

Is it realistic to think I can do better than a 158, and is a jump to a 162 significantly going to impact my chances positively?

Retake December if you feel like you can improve to 160+. If not then sit out a cycle and retake in June.

Thank you both for the advice. My biggest fear is to retake in december and NOT break the 160 mark..i would NOT take the LSAT three times. Im going to focus the most on logic games since i got -12 in this section and is obviously where i need to put in the most work. :| :| :| :|
