3.87/169 Is work experience a problem?

Postby SH1990 » Tue Oct 29, 2013 10:45 pm

I just received my October LSAT score and it was a 169. That is my only LSAT score. I graduated with a degree in Political Science in 2012 from a Top 20 public university with a 3.87 GPA. My biggest concern right now is that since college my work experience is very unimpressive. I don't even think my current job would be considered work experience at all; that is how bad it is. I also spent six months after college just traveling. I was involved in many extra-curricular activities in college including a sorority and an honor society but since then I really haven't done much.
I am basically wondering how much a lack of significant work experience will affect my application and what my chances would be at some of the following schools:
UCLA
USC
Vanderbilt
NYU
Fordham
Berkeley
Columbia
Stanford

UCLA and USC are my top choices. I know some of those are reaches for me, but any and all advice is appreciated. Also do you think it would be worth it for me to retake the LSAT? I was getting low 170s on my practice tests so I performed a bit lower than I had hoped to. Thanks in advance!

Oh and I should also mention that I am not a URM.

1. No one will care about your work experience not being high profile.
2. You should retake if you were scoring in the 170s since every point at this level counts.
3. You should primarily be thinking T14 with these numbers, not UCLA or USC.
4. I would retake, but if you don't apply to CCN and the lower T14, you will get several acceptances and likely money at some.
