3.62/162 plus huge Greek leadership role
My dream school is Vandy. Obviously my LSAT of 162 is on the lower side, but I wonder how well my GPA and the fact that I was President of Panhellenic at my large Big 12 school could raise my chances.
My 3.62 GPA is without calculating my 30ish hours of community college straight 4.0s, which I can't for the life of me figure out how to do.
For those that don't know, Panhellenic is the governing body of all the sororities on a campus. At my school, there are 14 sororities with about 200 members per sorority. That means I was president of the largest women's organization on campus.
How much is Greek leadership valued at top law schools?
Thanks

Retake. The Greek position will do nothing for you.

Not to mention being president of Panhellenic or IFC is nothing compared to being president of a chapter. But yeah, no real boost to your app. Retake for Vandy.

I would second the general consensus above (although there are a TON of greek alumns in law school...)
It's worth noting that OP's raw LSAC GPA will actually be substantially improved if they had 7 or 8 additional A's in CC courses; assuming as an average benchmark 120 total (public) credit hours, we're looking at ~3.7 or just slightly under. This, plus the 2 pt median drop last cycle, would suggest OP is somewhat less SOL'd at Vandy with a 167.

+1 your "leadership role" is valueless.

I was literally told by my CSO to take my Greek stuff off my résumé before applying to any jobs.

This. My resume includes "Public Service Pledge," which is actually a program at my law school where you devote 100 hours to community service, and CSO and even an employer told me to get it off my resume because "it sounds too much like some kind of fraternity thing."Danger Zone wrote:I was literally told by my CSO to take my Greek stuff off my résumé before applying to any jobs.

Not judging, because I have no idea what your position entailed. But as you came for blunt advice I feel compelled to say this statement will, if found anywhere on your application, draw derision and scorn at most law school admissions offices.brookethecook wrote: That means I was president of the largest women's organization on campus.
