Suspended

What are my chances? I have been suspended from one college (back in now) for disciplinary reason and I have been expelled from another college. The second college I went to was the one who expelled me. This was for disciplinary reason as well. I got suspended and expelled within the same year. My question is can I still make it into The top 14. I am an URM AA male. I have got softs. My GPA is 3.7 and my LSAT practice score is all within 170 range.

What were you suspended/expelled for

First, no one will be able to assess your chances without an actual LSAT.

Second, if the reason you were expelled or suspended was due to academic dishonesty, you may have a difficult time getting into LS and passing the bar. Not saying you won't get in or pass but you need to really explain what happened and why it won't ever happen again.

I had a friend who had excellent numbers and still had a hard time getting into T14 because of an academic dishonesty disclosure. For what its worth tho, he eventually got off a T14 waitlist, where he's now a 2L in top 10%, so he will have survived the incident quite nicely.

Definitely out at any school requiring deans certification (stanford, columbia, ect.).

Ive seen people get hit pretty hard for stuff like this at T13. You should address the issue upfront in your app. If you are 170+, several schools may want you so bad regardless that they will overlook it, but we can't know that until you sit for an official administration of the test

Do you think it'd be possible to ever hear the story of someone who successfully didnt disclose (got through C&F etc)

School One (back at that school now)
1.Intimidating or threatening behavior
2. Failure to comply
3. Disorderly, disruptive, lewd or indecent conduct
4. Disruption or obstruction of teaching, administration, or other university activities

School Two
Teacher said that I threatening to blow up the school which is why I am expelled from that school.

I think you need to look into whether or not you can get a gag order on the school and then not disclose

Oh man, I really don't know if law school is a wise decision in your case. It is going to be very very hard to get into a reputable program once you disclose those things.

Even if OP does get into a school it will probably be hard to get admission to the bar with that record.

Talk to a lawyer

You may not be able to be admitted to any bar

You're going to need some more distance. On paper you have a propensity towards threatening violent behavior.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PERSONAL:

If I had a kid at law school and then you went on a rampage, killing that kid, I'd sue the fuck out of that school for negligence.
That the thing. I can under where you are coming from and i know the admission people is going to say the same thing WHAT IF. I still have fall 13 until summer 15 to graduate. I have been taking necessary steps so that I do not get into trouble. I went into Anger Management and I am still going to counseling.

So you're not graduating until 2015, applying for LS Fall 2016?

If you keep attending anger management and stay out of any trouble, you may be able to convince schools/the bar that you're not a threat.

Some law school will take your money but not sure about the bar. What's your second career choice?

I really don't have one at the moment. I always knew what I wanted to do. Would my local law school know if I will be able to pass a c&f test.

No, you will have to contact your state BAR. Be prepared for them to be shocked you are even asking so close to these serious incidents. You may have to wait 5+ years. Good luck and for god sakes man - stay out of trouble.

Do you have a criminal record?

What is it?

Do you have any other incidents in your past you haven't mentioned/

This is my best advice: Do not talk to the bar directly. Find a lawyer with experience in Character and Fitness and hire them to advise you. Note: they may not want to take the time to talk to you now as you have so far to go. But still, contact the local bar association and get advice from an expert.

Don't waste your time and money applying until you can get advice on how to spin this the correct way. And don't even apply or disclose anything to any school or anyone associated with a school until you have advice from an expert lawyer on what to say.

You're not walking on thin lines, you're walking on thin ice.

I have some c&f issues myself, but good God, man. Threatening to blow up the school and getting into it with your professors is not a good idea. Looking at this on paper it just looks like you are prone to fighting with your professors, and taking things way over the top. Law schools are going to be hesitant to admit someone like that. You come across as a danger to your instructors, to yourself, and to others.

Not saying you are, I dont know you, and I have been involved with my share of incidents where things were blown way out of proportion, but that is how it comes across on paper.

Do what was suggested above. Put some time between you and the incident, stay out of any kind of trouble(especially violent kinds), don't threaten to blow anything up, and have documented evidence of your anger management classes, and whatever else you can put on paper to display that you have taken to steps to correct the behavior, and have left that part of your life in the past.

Also, kill the LSAT.

How did you get back into school one? I think that might possibly help you.

Maybe you shouldn't share too much here. I don't know. Talk to an experienced lawyer, a criminal lawyer will not be an expert in C &F.

I would say don't go to law school. We're here talking about whether is even possible for you to be admitted to the bar in any state, but it wouldn't surprise anyone to see you shut out of the bar everywhere. You don't want to sink all that money into law school if you're not absolutely sure you'll be able to practice.

Generally, the bigger the transgression, the further removed you need to be from it. You have a pretty long list culminating in a very serious charge (threatening to blow up the school). Did you get charged with a felony for that? That's an automatic disbarment in 48 states, I think.

I tend to be relatively permissive about this kind of stuff, and I think state bars in general deny too many people for things that are most often harmless. But if you'll allow me to be frank, OP, if I were on a certification board reading that, I would deny you. It's way too soon after something way too big. It doesn't come across as a "I was young and stupid" or a "I made a bad decision in the heat of the moment" C&F, it comes across as you legitimately being a threat to people around you. So yeah, definitely consult with something who has expertise in this sort of stuff.

Also, word of advice: I wouldn't post any more of this stuff on the Internet if I were you, and frankly I'd advise you to delete what you've posted. Just a heads up.
