Don't even look at Mylsn. The only real year you have to judge your chances is last year.

In at Harvard. Probably in at Yale and Stanford. I hope the other posters ITT realize that 3.6's with 173-5 were getting admitted to Harvard, right?

Also, would recommend you try to get full schollys at Columbia or Chicago if possible. Would be better than HYS.

These are exactly Lavitz's numbers. I'm still bitter he didn't get in to HLS.

But yeah, you can count on Harvard. Although it should be pointed out that your numbers are prime Hamilton territory and you might prefer that over HLS.

Gpa is probably too low for full, but half seems likely.

Lol, imagine my thoughts when I saw this thread title.

OP, you're definitely in good shape but if your app is as lame as mine apparently was, nothing is guaranteed. I'm sure you'll get an interview invite. Don't blow it and you should be in.

Feel free to PM me if you have any concerns.

GPA is below median for Chicago but not Columbia. Off the top of my head, carboncopy got a Hamilton with a 3.85 so I think it's in play.

True, but Carbon was also a magical wizard.

You never know. OP might be one too.

But just in case, I checked LSN just now and there are 3 other Hamiltons with GPAs in the 3.8 range. 4 if you believe the person who put $200,000. Also 3 from last cycle. But you're right; a Butler is probably more likely.

3.8x/175+s frequently get the hamilton. not all of them, though. not sure why some don't.

Probably because the number of 3.8+/175+ applicants exceeds the number of Hamiltons available. There are 33 applicants with those numbers on LSN alone for this cycle.

And some of us didn't even get in. :?

yeah, i mean not sure how they choose which get them. i've seen people who get the hamilton but none of the HYS (even H) and i've also seen vice versa. it's not always easy to predict at that level.

I'd like to know, too, since I didn't get one :( But info as to why I didn't, I think (if you care): My PS was fairly safe, and I didn't mention anything specific about what I'd hope to do with the JD, apart from vague 'helping people' stuff. Also, my background is entirely humanities-driven.

I mean, maybe one or two whiffed on HYS. But the odds of an applicant being accepted to Harvard given that they received a Hamilton is historically something like 98%. It's the closest thing to a lock you can find in the admissions process. And that makes sense, because the Hamilton is pretty much specifically designed to poach Harvard kids. I don't know if the Hamilton has any "extra" predictive power in HYS chances. It's tough to say because it's almost exclusively 3.83+/176+, which is a category that is nearly a guarantee to be accepted at Harvard anyway.

That group isn't guaranteed a Hamilton because, as has been mentioned, there just aren't enough to go around. There are probably 50 applicants a year with those numbers and I think 20 Hamiltons a year. They have the option of picking their favorites from that group and it doesn't matter deeply which ones they pick because everyone in that group is above both 75ths and the yield rate on it is pretty high.

Yeah, that's even weirder than HLS. Can't believe you wouldn't get into CLS. Wish there was some explanation for it.
