3.31.178, maybe gpa addendum?

Hey guys,
So I guess I have 2 main questions if you could help me out:
1. With a split that big, should I just blanket the T-14 - HYS and see if I get a couple bites?
2. I have a strange circumstance where I was a full time college/HS dual credit student at a local college my junior year of HS. 33 hours, 2.5 GPA, obviously not prepared for the work/environment. Anyways, without this year, my LSDAS GPA is 3.6. Do you think writing an addendum could help me at all, or just come across as whining?

Thanks!

1. Yes. You should end up with some solid options.

2. Addendum probably won't help much since even a 3.6 isn't impressive at top schools. Plus schools can see the grade trend when they look at your transcript.

Writing a GPA addendum is advisable in particular circumstances, and no it's not whining IMO. However, it serves best when you have one bad grade or bad semester with a supportable reason for that single occurrence (and then hopefully an upward trajectory from there, or solid grades in other semesters/years). If you have one semester that was particularly bad for a specific reason then it wouldn't hurt to write one.

If you just have generically low grades than an addendum wouldn't do much.

I agree with TS that if your best semester was a 3.6, you don't have much to say for your GPA.

just pray for some splitter lovveee

Don't addendum that. You're up next to applicants who did 60 college credit hours in high school and maintained a 4.0. "Not being prepared for college" really isn't a great excuse. I know it sucks. Just spread that app far and wide and the LSAT should take you.

You should do an addendum, but even with a 3.6, if you're a white you have no shot at HYS, and at least 1 of CCN will probably take you anyway (they won't use the addendum for scholarship considerations)

this is too true, and I hate it. For admissions schools will occasionally look beyond low numbers for some extenuating circumstance or extreme soft - scholarships, the schools true cards, are 100% urm/numbers.

Yeah, figured no chance at HYS, wish my 16yo self was more of a gunner. Anyways, what I was really hoping for was a decent shot at one of CCN (preferably Columbia as a personal choice but any is fine). Scholarship situation is a bummer but that's not the biggest deal in the world for me at this point, mainly admission. On the other hand though, do any of you think a 3.3/178 can get any type of $ at a lower T-14 or is it just to big of a split? Thanks to all who replied!

Lol. Columbia seems to be everyone's personal choice among non HYS, hence its the most competitive.

You probably stand the greatest chance at NYU, but we haven't seen how this cycle shapes up for most of the CLS reserve pile (columbia's WL). If they start drawing heavily on splitters in june/july, then you'll be able to gauge your chances slightly better. Declining applications portend great & unpredictable cycles for splitters, especially off waitlists.

I think you stand a good chance at decent $$ from a couple schools. UVA and NU are two examples that tend to be splitter friendly and will grab that high LSAT.

Yeah, you'll get at least 50K from someone in the 7-13 range
