164/3.94

Hi All-

Wondering what my best strategy is going into the upcoming cycle. I have taken the LSAT twice first was 159, second was 164. I will be taking it again in October so I guess there is some potential my score could move up a few points. I am Non-URM.

In terms of softs(I know, nothing that will be too much of a help):
-Published a legal case study in national journal
-Worked full-time through undergrad(fortune 500 & state government legislative analysis)
-Opened a small business while in school

Long term goals are either clerkship to Big law OR State/federal government work

But if these #s were to hold.... this is what i was thinking:

1. Penn ED (Reach)
2. UVA, ED if still possible post Penn (reach)
3. Boalt (Reach)
3. Mich (Reach)
4.Vanderbelt (Possible)
5. GW (In)
6.Notre Dame(Possible)
7. UNC (In)
8. Wake Forrest(In)

Any input on chances or strategy would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Where do you want to live/ work? Definitely apply early and hope for the best with LSAT score, what are you PTing around now?

You should throw Duke in the mix, CCN too if you think you can get the lsat up a few points (HYS too if you're getting 170+)

I am looking to live in the north east preferably NY/NJ/CT/PA.

I just took a PT after taking a few months off from the Feb LSAT(which i realize was probably not the best of ideas) and i scored a 163. Im hoping i can increase my score to the 166/167 level by october.

You have approximately 5 months? If you study all summer I bet you can break 170, don't settle and good luck!

If you have a girlfriend, dump her. She isn't worth you fucking up on the LSAT.

I agree with the suggestion to add Duke to your list. Good luck!

I know you are being facetious, but OP never ED with that GPA. Get your LSAT to 170 and you are in at most T14 with money. ED would be a huge waste.

Good for you for being willing to retake. You've got a phenomenal GPA, so you might as well complement it with a 170+ and enjoy Penn or UVA. Good luck.

I agree with this, especially if she is a bitch like the girl I was dating during the time Pacquiao and Marquez IV fight took place. My date and I were seated in the outside patio of Buffalo Wild Wings. I then proceed to go inside and get our food and drinks because the waitresses did not want to come outside. She got mad because I wasn't giving her enough "attention" in the form of chatting her up and flirting with her. I was like whatever. I am watching what ended up being the fight of the year and you are over here crying like a lil kid. She ended up going to the restroom during the fight to talk to someone on the phone and called a taxicab to come pick her up. I just ended up going to the club afterwards and begun my "second date" for the night.

I had a 164 as well, but a slightly lower GPA. Non-urm. I also applied to a lot of the places on your list, so I'll give you a rundown of my results.

1. Penn ED Didn't apply.
2. UVA Didn't apply.
3. Boalt Rejected.
3. Mich Waitlisted. No final determination yet but I'm not going at sticker.
4.Vanderbilt Didn't try, but feel like a waitlist to accept is decently probable for you.
5. GW Didn't apply.
6.Notre Dame Waitlisted then accepted with 20k/year.
7. UNC In, I'm a North Carolina resident.
8. Wake Forest In with basically a full ride.

So I would say your predictions are pretty good. As said before, retake is clutch, but I simply can't test well and tried 3 times to no avail. Hopefully you do better!

No way bro! The celibate mind is sharper — it retains more information. After the LSAT score 170+ have all the sex you want.

lol

no, false bro

sex relieves stress, helps metabolism and brain function. Dre would be ashamed. I wouldn't go as Machiavellian as to say keep your SO close as a sexual hormonal boost to your test potential, but I would not have survived the weeks leading up to exam time without mine

well IDK, I guess everyone works differently.

cause I've remained celibate for the last month and have made major improvements.

fair enough.

I think it depends mostly on the stress of the relationship. if the dynamic is tense or causes loss of time, then you're right, best to stay clear. I don't know if sex itself is the issue but relationships can definitely be distracting

I actually think it's when you ejaculate that you start seeing lack of focus and depth in your studies. WHY? cause you get tired and want to sleep instead of doing PT's.

So, SOLUTION: don't ejaculate!

I personally know someone who had a 164/3.9 who was accepted Penn ED. I had similar stats when I applied (3.8/164) and was waitlisted Vandy, accepted @ GW off the waitlist with some $, & so on (it's in my profile I believe).
