CLS has probably begun to focus on the employment metric, motivated by the shift in USNWR methodology. I believe some of the people who were spurned this cycle might actually have gotten in last year despite there being more applicants. They've loosened their GPA floors (as low as 3.2 I've seen) and are now focusing more on professional history, resume, UG prestige. TLS loves to say law schools don't care about that, but employers do, and now schools are starting to as well.
