Top Law Schools

As my subject line said--

White male:

LSAT score 165

Undergrad GPA 3.72 - double major English and Philosophy.

Fluent or conversant in English, Mandarin Chinese, Ancient Greek, and French.

Work in a Law office now as a legal assistant, An accomplished competitive classical pianist, I've helped faculty at my university with research and helped design a courses now being taught, fraternity, academic honors, graduated with honors, etc.

School list thus far -

Cornell, University of Texas, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, George Washington, Baylor.

Thoughts on my odds?

Any midrange 20-30ish schools i should consider applying for?

You speak Ancient Greek? That must be incredibly useful.

You have a good GPA you shouldn't waste with a mediocre LSAT. You won't be getting Cornell or Georgetown, and if you get into the others it won't be enough money to make it worth it.
Eta: being a polyglot isn't going to add points to your LSAT or materially affect your cycle.

I'm unsure if that's sarcasm or not. But yeah, it's pretty useful. Though you don't actually speak it. You pretty much just read it/translate, or read it aloud to emphasis the meter they wrote in for some of the epics. That being said, i've found it incredibly useful.

So is your suggestion to just study up and retake? Kind of a bummer. I figured the polyglot thing, especially knowing Chinese, might actually help considerably.

For the sake of this cycle and next, you should retake in June no matter what.

If I were you, I would apply to any school with a median LSAT of 166 or below that youre interested in (BC/BU/Fordham/Emory). I say 166 because their median may fall to 165 with the app decline.

Also, apply to SMU. Its way better than Baylor for a number of reasons (more fun stuff to do there + proximity to its market). 3.7/165 usually get pretty good offers there.

It will be a very marginal benefit for you in law school admissions. It will probably be a significant boost for finding a job, but won't really help you get in to law school.

Yes I would retake for sure. Also, I think the above poster is correct that it may help for the job search. However, it is unlikely to significantly affect admissions. For better or worse, law school admissions are almost 100% numbers based.
