I know of one girl who has your exact numbers and got in.

With that being said, check out the "stickies" at the top of the forum, they have some helpful links in answering this question.

I would also suggest retaking. Although you could conceivably get Chicago or another T14, another few points and you give yourself a fighting chance at HYS

Retake means something different for you than for most people with low LSATs. Your 4.0 puts you over 75th at every law school. That means if you can eclipse a school's median LSAT you are looking at a full ride. You can do the math and play with http://www.mylsn.info/app_checker.php yourself, but really and truly, you should retake because every additional point will translate to thousands of dollars less debt you will take on for law school.

Now compare that with me. I have a 3.4/168--I should logically also retake the LSAT to gain admission to a better law school (which I intend to do), but whereas a higher LSAT can help me gain admission to many schools, it is unlikely to significantly enhance any tuition discounts I may receive because my GPA is below every reputable school's median and most schools' 25th percentiles. I can't go back and retake undergrad for a higher GPA.

4.0/165 ED could potentially get in at Chicago. But 4.0/173 would get in on something close to a full ride, with competing full rides from other T14 and potentially offers from HYS as well. $200,000 in guaranteed debt reduction for a few hundred hours of study over the next 3-6 months.
