Law school predictor isn't going to reliably predict your cycle because you are a splitter.

There is a thread on here somewhere about which schools are more "splitter-friendly" since a lot of schools have hard GPA floors, most of which are above 3.1. You should get some T-14 acceptances with a 175, though.

Now that my score turned out to be way better than I anticipated, I'm wondering where else I should apply, and what my chances are with Duke and UNC. I think I'm set when it comes to WF, though.

I'd like to stick to the east coast. I'm looking at the law school predictor and looks like the only T14 with a "strong consider" is Cornell. Duke is listed as "weak consider."

Any thoughts?

As said, 175 LSAT, 3.3 UG GPA, and 3.1 LSAC GPA.

Thank you!!

(And as a lurker on the Dec waiting thread, thanks for getting me through the month! :D )

Here's a useful link: http://myLSN.info/zl6ak3

You should get some T14 acceptances, but the relatively late application might hurt you and you'll probably have to ride out some waitlists--good news is that schools want your LSAT. If you don't get what you want, I'd reapply early next cycle.

You should probably ED to UVA. Otherwise, you will ride multiple waitlists at NYU, Penn and Michigan. You have a good shot at Georgetown and Northwestern as well.

Get Vanderbilt on that list. And write a Why UNC if you're seriously considering going there. Seems like they yield protect people with your numbers. Really, though, you'll probably get $ or $$ from the one or two T14's if you ride the waitlists until the end.

Not accepting you because they dont think youll matriculate.

Applicants who dont matriculate hurt their selectivity rating, which affects rankings.

When you have numbers that make it clear to a lower ranked school that you'll likely be accepted to much fancier schools, they'll be wary of admitting you. For every offer they make that doesn't result in a matriculation, the school takes a hit in the USNWR formula. A Why X statement will make them think there's a chance you'll actually go there.

Which is because you'll get into the T14. You're practically auto-admit at G-town, as is almost everyone else with a 170+.

If you're shooting lower than T14, you'd better be getting some $$$.

Whoa, whoa. Don't go that far. You're looking at money from the T14. Tell them why you're legitimately interested in their school, nothing more.

You have great numbers, dude. Don't undersell yourself here.

There's not a lot of data for UNC with your numbers since heavy splitters typically target the T14. It looks like you'll get in, but I wonder if you'll receive enough $$$ to make it worthwhile.

GULC looks like a good bet but I would strongly consider EDing UVA with your #'s since it sounds like you want to be in the south

This. It's what I did. Wanted to suggest it but didn't want it to seem like I was pushing my own risky decisions on others.

"Why X" essays aren't binding, bro. Say whatever you need to say to get that acceptance.

Not sure if SRS BSNS.

Just in case: law schools aren't big on lying and "I'd matriculate if accepted" doesn't offer much wiggle room for OP.

Then maybe he should say "I would love to attend" instead of "I will attend." Then he won't be lying.

Yeah, exactly.

Huh, this thread was from a while ago. Thanks for coming back to round off the conversation, .
