171 (retake) / 4.0
so the basics are:
C (two years ago)/167/171. 4.0 from a middle ivy.
submitting my apps tomorrow (i.e. day after dec scores came out).
2 years WE in finance. Good but far from great LOR/PS.
blanketing t14 and writing Whys where appropriate
trying to contextualize my chances. Would it be fair to say 25% each at YHS, 50% each at CCN and 75% at rest of the t14?

Re: 171 (retake) / 4.0
I'm a 172/4.0 (retake from two years ago). I also have 2 yrs of strong work experience. So far I have had a fortunate cycle. However, I applied in September. I would say your chances are similar to what you guessed, although better than 75% at a few of the T14. And less than 25% at SY.az21833 wrote:so the basics are:

Thanks spicy - do you mind sharing what you consider to be a fortunate cycle? looks like you were better off with the early app and the extra LSAT point but atleast i'll have an idea of my ceiling.
Also, i figure with YP that that 75% at the lower t14 is about right
I figured i would actually be slightly higher than 25% at S and slightly lower than 25% at H given the relative weights each places on GPA/LSAT?

YHS aren't even close to being a monolith for admissions purposes. Your odds are remote at YLS, probably ~30% at S, and probably >50% at H. Your UG might help a tiny bit, but that's no given.
On the other hand, CLS looks pretty good, though you might have to ride the WL first. Chances at NYU and Chicago are very good. Aside from Berkeley (unpredictable), you should get in everywhere else in the T14, though you could always get the YP treatment from MVP.
Here's how applicants with your numbers have done in recent cycles (most competitive cycle removed): http://myLSN.info/iwc964.

Re: 171 (retake) / 4.0
If you do not get H, I would consider applying again next cycle. As it stands, you have a 50-60% chance at H.
You're a lock at NYU and 60-70% chance at Chicago and Columbia. If you didn't get into CC, you'll be WL and pulled off of it.

Re: 171 (retake) / 4.0
thanks guys, whats typical timing for CC waitlists? When will I be put on them, what am i expected to do while on them, and when will I get pulled off (if I in fact am)?
Also do any schools give a slight boost for going to UG there or do they not give a ****
also are the chances at S just because there are so many applicants and so few spots and they have a black box type admissions process? I thought I some somewhere their median LSAT was 170 so is it not really my #s but just the way S is that gives it such a low chance?

Ivy law schools normally show a slight boost for going to a UG Ivy, so I would imagine that slight boost would also count if you went to UG there too.az21833 wrote:thanks guys, whats typical timing for CC waitlists? In addition, timing for waitlists is that most action happens in late May or early June. You can check last year's applicant thread to see.

My profile has my LSN profile link, which is up to date. It's hard to put a # for S b/c of their emphasis on the intangibles. Either way, best of luck and let us know how you do!az21833 wrote:Thanks spicy - do you mind sharing what you consider to be a fortunate cycle? looks like you were better off with the early app and the extra LSAT point but atleast i'll have an idea of my ceiling.
