Hello to anyone taking the time to read this (and thank you as well!):
I've heard a lot about the admissions process to law schools and honestly, a lot of it can be overwhelming and on occasion, conflicting. I'm currently a Cornell UG studying English & Film with an overall GPA of a 3.642. My 1st semester GPA was awful, hence the lowish overall but since then, I've been consistently receiving 3.7-3.8s. I've improved quite a bit but my 1st semester has still put a decent dent in my overall GPA. How will Law Schools look at this? Also, I'm a little concerned about my LSATs. I tried to take them recently and even though I was scoring in the late 160s to early 170s on my practice exams, I had a panic attack during the exam because I felt like I was getting way too many wrong way early on in the exam and left in the middle of the break, canceling my score. Besides my URM status and my interest in the interdisciplinary work that can be done between the humanities (specifically film and literature) and the study of law, I'm a pretty standard applicant. I plan on taking a gap year or two working for the government, the length of which will depend on how much I feel I need to prepare for the LSATs. I'm not sure if I'm asking to be chanced or if I just want some advise on how to devise realistic expectations?
Again, thanks a bunch!

Re: Oh the nuances...
WE: Good, but minor if any change in admissions.
URM: Heavily factored, dependent on ethnicity.
Get an LSAT.
GPA: Fine.
Cancel wont matter
Upward trend likely wont matter
Major wont matter.
