3.5/169 but...

Post by NoodleyOne » Tue Jul 10, 2012 4:48 pm

Okay, I bombed the June LSAT and got a 169. I am already registered for a retake, but I was wondering if I should throw an early September app at UVA (Virginia Resident) or wait until after I get my October scores. UVA isn't my target school, but I'm also not willing to discount it if it ends up making the most financial/career sense, and I was wondering if the boost I would get from applying super-early would offset the most likely lower LSAT score than the October test.

Weak softs, BS work experience, white male, although I'm a little older than the average applicant and can pull a "rough life" PS out of my ass.

Well, if you think you really bombed the 169 and definitely expect to do better I would wait for the new score, apply broadly and play the negotiation game for schollys. Also, aren't you below both medians at UVA? I don't think an ED is as useful in that case.

No, just apply after your October score.

Immediately after receiving your score. Within 1 week.

Wasn't looking at ED to UVA, but I think they save 40% of their seats for VA residents, so I think with my numbers that gives me a really good shot. I was just looking to get my app in early.

Alright, thanks. I guess I was just thinking too much about it. I'm going to pretend Law School doesn't exist until after the October test. Thanks.

No. Get EVERYTHING ready so that when your score comes in you can submit all your apps within a few days.

Yeah I did this. By setting up transcripts, recs etc I was able to apply to everywhere the night I got my score.
