What you are is a "reverse splitter." I had very similar numbers in the 2010-2011 cycle (165/4.0) and applied to the bottom half of the T-14. I got wait listed at all of them except Northwestern, which accepted me, and NYU, which dinged me. It seems that since applications were way down, schools had more wiggle room than last year so the cycle may go differently if that trend continues.

Retake that shit buddy. Enjoy HYS with a 172/3 and early app next cycle.

I think any T14 outside the T6 will take you if you apply ED. Chicago might, too.

Here's what you look like in the T20 schools with your numbers:

But apply early.

These are the results of applicants who applied before November:

Edit: don't know about people who applied ED, though.

Similar numbers. I covered a lot of the T-14 minus HYS and did not ED anywhere. In at UVA and Chicago, dinged at NYU, waitlisted and withdrew from Duke and Northwestern.

From what I've heard around TLS, UVA is more reverse splitter friendly. But honestly, had I known what I know now, I would have retaken the test in October. I discovered TLS much too late.

I was going to comment, but this is almost exactly what I would have written. I also had a difficult job that took up a lot of time and made studying/taking the test hard. Doesn't matter. If you work 12-14 hours a day, then it's time to start working 15-17 a day. It's a couple months of your life that will have huge ramifications on both the next three years and then your options after that. Just bear down and get it done.

And honestly, it's hard. It's hard to look at a score that's in the 92nd or 93rd percentile and say to yourself, "It's not good enough." Unfortunately, I wasn't in a position emotionally to retake. Looking at my score now makes me cringe. I missed two on LG, two on RC, and then the rest on LR. Had I spent even a few months just kicking ass on LR I could have easily cracked the 170s.

I would also like to know the answer to the question posed by Reg...

Just a quick question: Other than $$, is there any reason NOT to apply this cycle (without using ED) just to test the waters? I know LoRs and stuff hold for a couple of years, but are applicants allowed to apply to the exact same schools with the exact same LoRs, PS, etc., but just a different LSAT score? If the number of times you apply to a school with the same application isn't looked down upon, I see no reason why I shouldn't at least give this cycle a shot.

Honestly, I would just retake in October and kill it. Don't make it this complicated :-p

I am wondering with the WE... is there a chance the OP gets in as ED to Northwestern?

Also, retake. With a 170+ you're looking at a lock for most of the T14 with serious $$$.

I'm practically your numbers twin and I was able to snag Penn through the ED side door (and with comparatively shitty softs at that).
