Hi guys, I've prowled this forum for a while now and would like some opinions on my chances. I have a 4.0 normal gpa, haven't got the LSAC one yet. I'm getting around 176 on practice tests and I'm pretty sure I'll score in that area on the real thing. My concern is that I attended a public university that is not prestigious by any means and is relatively unknown outside my state. I don't think anyone from my school has ever been accepted to HYS. Moreover, I don't have great softs. I've done internships at my state Attorney General's Office, a legislative lobbying nonprofit, and a presidential campaign in the primary race. I'm involved in some clubs, but I don't have any spectacular softs like a Rhodes Scholarship or the like. I'm not a URM. Do you guys think I could get in at Harvard, Yale, or Columbia? Those are the only top school choices I would go with, otherwise I'll stay in-state. Thanks in advance!

P.S.
I know the calculators say that I would have a good chance of getting in, but my point in writing this is whether my school and softs will bring me down.

Take the real LSAT and come back. Otherwise use law school numbers.

There have been numerous forums on TLS that say that your UG and softs don't matter. Softs only matter if they're really significant, as you mentioned. Only a few schools (I've heard Harvard) will use your UG to push you over the edge a bit. From what I've gathered on TLS, softs can only bring you up not down. Unless your "soft" is that you're a master at COD and nothing else which clearly doesn't apply to you.

Based on your numbers alone (if you do get that 176) I think you have a very good shot at the schools you mentioned. But, you knew that from LSP ;)

Good luck on the LSAT!

Softs sound fine and easy to spin positively. Personally I recommend Law School Numbers Dot Com
