Could I get into University of Tennessee Law School
I currently have a 3.78 UGPA and I will be taking the LSAT on the 11th, I am estimating a score of between 153-156. Does anyone think I will have a chance of getting in there?

Are you a URM or a resident of Tennessee?
Could you get in? Yeah, sure, you could. Probably not though. 153-156 is likely not gonna cut it. No non URMs on LSN are in with under a 159. Score median for a good chance. score 161+ and you'll be looking at a scholarship. Good luck in June! youll probably need to take it again in Oct.

How much have you studied? If you break 170 you can have a serious chance at Harvard Yale Stanford and money at other top schools

Better question: why would you want to?
If I had a 3.78, I'd be going to a top 6 school.

I have studied a lil each day. I am good at everything but the logic games and I think that will hender me. I didn't want to overestimate and get a low score and be dissappointed.

AR is the easiest section to improve on and ultimately go -0 on. You should retake in October once you get your AR in check.

I want to go there because I am a resident of TN so I know tuition is going to be cheaper than other schools. The fact that I am a minority may help my chances there. Is UT not a good school?

Its a fine school, since you are down with practicing in TN. However, with your GPA, going there without a big scholarship would be a mistake.anitadonielle wrote:I want to go there because I am a resident of TN so I know tuition is going to be cheaper than other schools. Re: Could I get into University of Tennessee Law School
Pretty much the only metric to judge law schools by is whether you are likely to get a job after graduation. Only 60% of UT grads from the class of 2010 had long-term, full-time jobs requiring a JD and bar passage, 9 months after graduation. Only 25% of the class of 2010 were making more than $60k/year. It still costs well over six figures to go there (even for a resident), and your odds of paying back that size loan on those salaries is pretty shitty.

Retaking the LSAT is ENCOURAGED. How much did you study the first time, and how? \

Re: Could I get into University of Tennessee Law School
Ive looked at the information for other schools and a lot of them show low chances of employment. I am an Economics and Finance major and I have taken almost enough hours in accounting to sit for the CPA exam in TN. If all else fails in law, I think I could at least be a tax lawyer or a CPA accountant or do something in finance. I have tried to prepare other options in case something were to go wrong with law.rinkrat19 wrote:Pretty much the only metric to judge law schools by is whether you are likely to get a job after graduation. If you take a 3.78 GPA and apply with a 155 LSAT, I will literally hunt you down and murder you. Take a class or read a prep book, don't waste a solid GPA.

Re: Could I get into University of Tennessee Law School
OP: Since your GPA is above Tennessee's 75th%, you'll be competitive with an LSAT score of 158 or higher, in my opinion. You have a slight chance with a 154-156. Unfortunately, lawschoolnumbers.com doesn't have too much data on UTennessee.
Check http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com graphs on UTennessee.
P.S. Even though law school applications are expected to decrease further next year, state schools offering very low resident tuition rates may see a slight increase which makes Tennessee tough to predict. What is clear is that Tennessee loves LSAT scores of 161 & 162 according to the most recent years' graphs on lawschoolnumbers.com.

No, but OP is, because she has a 3.78. She shouldn't waste it on a shitty school.TheZoid wrote:Well aren't you like, pretty special man.rinkrat19 wrote:Better question: why would you want to?
