If you're above both medians, say about 3.9 174, non urm, how good are your chances of getting in? what about if you have substantial work experience? what if you don't.??

So would teaching be a kind of WE that would satisfy that requirement?

Probably. I know of one teacher above both medians this cycle who got waitlisted, but who knows why.
